Like another listener, this was the least inspiring of the 5 nights. I was there in attendance for all 5 and nights one, two and three are unsurpassed if you take them all together...
Listen to the Jack Straw....Bobby sings, you can say, you're the giant, from sea to shining sea...
never heard that before, or after....
Have fun, thanks for all the music!!!

read the rest of the reviews for the big picture. I think this is a very interesting set list and the dynamic is exciting. Franklins is pretty touch and go with Jerry though. I think he may, may have gotten 3 verses right. Good ol' bobby comes on mic next to save the day! Classic stuff.

I was at this run of shows and this one was the least inspired as I remember. Not to say it was bad, it wasnt. They broke out UJB during this run after not having played it for a couple years. The problem was, they played it 3 out of the 5 nights, I think.
If you find the 2nd night of the run, I remember that being the hottest show. They played a 3rd set this night, starting with Althea, but it was just weird. Minglewood in the 3rd set? C'mon, man! Anyway, I love 'em and I miss'em. Peace...

Wow! This is a stellar AUD tape! Rolfe was the man! The "live" feeling of being in the room is captured perfectly with this tape!
As for the boys performance, it is pretty damn solid. There are some minor vocal flubbs and messy playing here and there, but overall they are having fun and jamming just like I would have wanted it to be if I were there. You know Jerry is gonna be HOT all night long from his aggressive attack on the opening "Jack Straw." Whoa! It's just SICK! And all the boys join in the Jack Straw vocal after Jerry ignites the place on fire! "Franklin's Tower" is a breath of fresh air as Jerry paints musical landscapes in my head. Damn I was born about 18 years too late. Shit!

This is one fine aud, and an excellent show to boot (no pun intended). Every one of these last few shows of '79 is worth having, and the Steve Rolfe auds are spot-on, every one of them.

A classic aud - an all around excellent recording, balancing crowd noice/energy with some darn fine playing. With the well-behaved West Coast crowd (typically more interested in listening than screaming) you are almost transported to the arena floor during stella....
As for the show, some vocal flubs notwithstanding, an all around excellent showing. Hard to believe winterland closed only a year prior. worth having.
